Teamwork Helps Provide Hope for Young Accident Victim
Twenty-one-year-old Chamroeun had been working as a guard at Gloria Jean's Coffee in Phnom Penh when he was struck by a swerving car. As he lay in a medical facility with an amputated leg, pelvic fracture and severe infection, he was given only a ten percent chance of survival.
The management team at the coffee shop called around to look for another medical facility which could provide better treatment and a better chance of beating the odds. After searching for some time, they found the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE, where Chamreoun could receive high-quality treatment free of charge.
Staff from both organizations worked together to heal Chamroeun and give him hope for a promising future, despite his new disabilities.
“Without the Center of HOPE and Gloria Jean’s, I would have died and I could not be sitting here, seeing you, like I am today,” said Chamroeun.
When Chamroeun comes for his follow-up appointments, he is now able to walk in on his own, wearing a prosthetic and a big smile.
